A 52-year-old Special Reserve police officer charged with sexual offences against a minor was granted bail of $185,000 by a Master of the High Court on July 22.
A police release said PC Kenneth Hazel, last attached to the Eastern Division’s Community Oriented Policing Section, appeared before Master Shabiki Cazabon charged with one count of sexual touching and five counts of sexual penetration against a minor.
He was granted bail on the condition that he relocated to the Toco district immediately, stayed at least 50 feet away from the victim and did not have any direct/indirect contact with the victim. A status hearing is scheduled for May 15, 2025, and the sufficiency hearing is scheduled for June 19, 2025.
Hazel is alleged to have sexually touched the victim between May 2022 and July 2022. He is also alleged to have had sexual intercourse with the victim five times between January 2, 2024 and July 4, 2024.
It was reported to police on July 11 and Hazel was arrested on July 15.
Investigations were supervised by Insps Ramkaran and Hosein, both of the Special Victims Department.
Hazel was charged with the offences on July 19 by Cpl Hazzard, of the Eastern Division Child Protection Unit.
