A 23-year-old Morvant woman is in police custody after she was found with an assault rifle and ammunition at her home on Tuesday night.
Police said North Eastern Division officers began an anti-crime exercise at 5.30 pm.
They visited a house on Leotaud Street, Morvant, where they found an AR 15 and 26 rounds of ammunition in a wardrobe.
The woman was arrested and is expected to be questioned about the gun on Wednesday.
The exercise was led by Snr Supt Maharaj, Supt Ramjohn, ASP Parriman and Insp Bharath with supervision from acting Sgt Belilam and Cpl Ramkissoon.
Members of the North Eastern Division Intelligence Unit and the North Eastern Division Task Force also assisted.
