Emrit, Simmons, Bravo to compete in North Zone T20 - Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

THE North Zone T20 competition bowls off at the Diego Martin Sporting Complex, on Sunday.

Police will face Santa Cruz in the first game of the double-header starting at 2 pm, then Invincible come up against Glenora at 6.30 pm.

The eight-team tournament is the final opportunity for players of the zone to show their cricketing skills for 2022. The teams on show are Police Sports Club, Santa Cruz Sports Association, Invincible Cricket Club, Glenora Sports Club, Pole 9, Barataria Ball Players, Savannah Boys, and Paragon Sports and Culture Club.

President of the TT Cricket Board Azim Bassarath, chairperson of the Prime Minister's Sport and Culture Fund Committee Debra Coryat-Patton and other dignitaries will meet the players before the start.

On Friday, a North Zone cricket media release said, 'A number of national league players have been recruited by the clubs, which will raise the level of play and excitement of the tournament. Police have in their roster, Rayad Emrit and Lendl Simmons while Santa Cruz has registered Darren Bravo and Tion Webster. This makes the opening encounter a mouth-watering affair.'

The tournament continues weekly with the semi-finals on June 19 and the final on June 20. The clubs are playing for a first prize of $10,000, second place will earn $6,000 with losing semi-finalists getting $3,000. 'The games will be streamed live on Cricket 360 which will give the players the added incentive to perform at their best.'
