THE 53-year-old woman who was recently released from police custody without charge in connection with the stabbing death of her husband in Ste Madeleine has been rearrested and charged.
Michelle Balgobin faced Master Margaret Sookraj-Goswami in the High Court on July 3, charged with the murder of Gary Balgobin, 57.
WPC La Rode of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three laid the charge.
Balgobin was denied bail and remanded into police custody.
The case was adjourned to June 3, 2025.
Gary Balgobin, the father of five and grandfather of six, was stabbed in a domestic dispute at the family’s home in Stanleyville on June 24 around 7 pm.
The dispute stemmed from his drinking habit.
PCs Matloo and Ramkissoon of the nearby Ste Madeleine police station responded and the suspect handed over the knife.
Balgobin was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead hours later at 11.53 pm.
After his death, Cpl Griffith, WPC Mohammed and other officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three detained Nichelle Blagobin.
After she had spent some days in custody, the police released her pending further inquiries.
