THE EDITOR: Have you ever been in a position where you could easily afford and enjoy the finer things in life?
It is a wonderful feeling which can lead one to believe they are entitled.
This is the position or feeling of many of our politicians. They have squandered very freely all the taxes they have imposed on the population over the years, and are now looking for even more. The lavish houses, the posh cars and boats and the lavish parties they attend. Oh what a great life.
However, the funds are drying up and what is owed to the population is not being delivered. For example, pension, tax refunds and VAT refunds.
The Minister of Finance is trying hard to convince the population that the solution to this financial crisis is the dreaded property tax.
I recently received the rental assessment for my home. I admit my home looks nice but by no way is it exquisite.
They suggest that If I rented it I could collect $7,000 per month. There is just one snag. For the past 12 years, I have only gotten a trickle of water on the days that WASA promised to schedule supplies. I made a report at Kew Place on behalf of all living on my street back then, and to date, nothing has been done. How can I rent my home for $7,000 per month without a water supply
Since the minister is convinced that the property tax will solve all issues, I offer this: I will pay onto Caesar what is Caesar's, but in return, if the issues I experience are not corrected – no water, bad roads, potholes everywhere, then I want Caesar to fully refund me all of the property taxes I have paid. Will Caesar do this?
