THE Trinidad and Tobago men’s Under-19 team lost back-to-back matches to start the 2022 Rugby Americas North (RAN) tournament at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus in Jamaica, on Thursday.
TT lost their opening match 31-0 against USA South.
USA South dominated from start to finish and opened up a comfortable 17-0 lead at halftime.
TT’s second match against Jamaica started late following a delay in an earlier match because of lightning.
TT were on the back foot for the majority of the first half and Jamaica led 12-0 at the break.
TT scored their first points of the tournament, but Jamaica continued to pile on the misery and won 29-3. The TT Under-19s will continue competing, on Friday.
The TT women’s rugby team will play in Pool A with Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. On Friday, TT will first play Jamaica at 9.40 am followed by a match against the Dominican Republic at 12.40 pm.
TT are ranked fifth in the women’s competition. Jamaica are seeded first, USA South are second, St Lucia third, the Dominican Republic fourth and Cayman Islands sixth.
The women’s tournament will end on Saturday and the men’s Under-19 will conclude on Sunday.
