Trinidad and Tobago defeated Leeward Islands by three wickets to record their second win of the West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Men's 50-Over Championship at Sion Hill Playing Field in St Vincent on Wednesday.
A fiery spell 4/21 from ten overs from TT’s Ronillester Perreira kept the Leewards’ batsmen at bay and they were eventually dismissed for a low target of 94, from 34.4 overs.
Number seven batsman Yanique Watley top scored with 22, with Tyanick Honore and Micahel Palmer scored 15 each.
Also among the wickets for TT were Vasant Singh (3/15), Andrew Rambaran (1/14) and Jacen Agard (1/15).
When TT batted, they had a good start from opener Justin Jagessar (21) but he was unable to form any real partnership with the other three top-order batsmen.
The Leewards’ bowlers regained control later down in the match and put TT to the sword at 88/7. But Agard (nine not out) and Abdur Rahman Juman (six not out) successfully got them over the line at 95/7 from a mirrored 34.3 overs.
TT’s Olando James and skipper Joshua Davis scored 11 and ten respectively.
Leewards’ Kimani Nisbett (2/13) and Pamler were their best bowlers.
In the other matches, Barbados triumphed against Jamaica by 75 runs at Arnos Vale Playing Field in Kingstown. Batting first, the Bajans totaled 181 all out from 45 overs. In reply, Jamaica were removed for 106 from 33.4 overs.
And at the Park Hill Playing Field in Colonarie, Windwards defeated Guyana by 56 runs after they posted 285/5 after 50 overs. In their turn at the crease, Guyana had a fair response but were eventually bowled out for 229.
Jamaica are the champions of the 50-over tournament after ending with four wins and one loss. The three-day tournanent will begin on Saturday.
TT will aim to bounce back in the three-day tournament after finishing the 50-over tournament with two wins, two losses and one no result.
