The Senate has introduced a bill asking for the creation of a new state from Kano State which will be called Tiga. The bill, which is sponsored by the senator representing Kano South, Kawu Sumaila, was first read in the red chamber on Thursday with the legislation seeking to alter the constitution for the creation of the new state. Kano is one of the most populated states in the country, with a total of 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs), making it unclear how the bill seeks to divide each.
