Sixteen-year old Trinidad and Tobago off-spinner Samara Ramnath leads the West Indies women’s Under-19 team into a five-match T20 International series against US at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground, University of the West Indies, St Augustine on July 20, from 10 am.
Ramnath captains a strong regional team, several of whom competed in the West Indies Rising Stars Women’s Under-19 Championship which concluded on July 13.
Joining her on the team from TT are Amrita Ramtahal, Brianna Harricharan and Kenika Cassar, who all played leading roles in guiding TT to third at the just concluded championship.
Only Danielle Manns from the 2024 title-winning Guyana team will rep the maroon for this series, which concludes on July 27.
Additionally, Leewards Islands captain Jahzara Claxton is the only player from the recent squad to make the cut.
The Windies women Under-19 team also comprises of Abigail Bryce, Asabi Calendar, Dicoreya Collymore, Elecia Bowman, Erin Deane, Kristen Sutherland, Naijannni Cumberbatch, Selena Ross and Trisha Hardat.
All matches bowl off at UWI. The remaining four T20Is play on July 22, 24, 25 and 27.
This tour is the second time the women’s youth regional teams are squaring off since US hosted Cricket West Indies in Florida, in 2022, and marks the start of preparations for the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.
