Mayor Eric Johnson issued the following statement today regarding Gov. Greg Abbott’s new executive order postponing elective surgeries in some counties and his decision to pause reopening plans:
“Steps like the ones taken by the governor today are necessary to free up hospital capacity and slow the spread of COVID-19, which is threatening lives and livelihoods in our city.
Mayor Johnson also issued a statement regarding Thursday’s Federal Medical Station meeting:
“The DFW Hospital Council and Dallas County informed us this morning that they do not want to stand up the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center pop-up hospital at this time.
They believe they are capable of handling a COVID-19 hospitalization surge in their existing medical facilities.”
