For authors who are working on books geared to tween readers, nine to 12 years, the Bocas Lit Fest is offering sessions on how to captivate those readers.
Award-winning authors Carol Mitchell and Danielle YC McClean, winner of the 2022 Bocas Lit Fest Children’s Book Prize, will hold a virtual three-session Tween Tales masterclass.
Participants will learn to craft engaging characters and plots tailored for nine-12 year olds, balancing humour, emotion, and relevant themes, a media release said.
This masterclass is for intermediate to advanced writers, and promises to share tools and inspiration to produce great tween literature and reach the target audience, the release said.
The sessions take place on August 9 and 16, 5-7 pm, and August 23, 5-8 pm via Zoom.
