By: ShaCamree Gowdy A Californian woman has filed a federal lawsuit against a local police department, alleging her state and federal civil rights statutes were violated during a violent arrest on August 6, 2020. According to the lawsuit, deputies Dalton McCampbell and Lisa McDowell engaged in “unlawful seizure, assault and excessive force” when they knocked 33-year-old Nakia Porter unconscious and proceeded to arrest her without cause, as reported by the Associated Press. Porter was traveling with her father, her two young daughters and niece when she pulled over to switch drivers.
