UNC political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar and other senior party officials on Monday dismissed social media reports which alleged that she suffered a major illness.
Persad-Bissessar, who is also Opposition Leader, dismissed the rumours by posting a photo of herself interacting with a vendor.
She was casually dressed in a shirt, jeans and slippers.
The photo was accompanied by a post which read, "Happy to be back in Trinidad and Tobago."
UNC deputy leader and Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal had one comment to make on the rumours of Persad-Bissessar's illness: "Fake news,"
Other UNC officials described the reports as "propaganda."
One official said Persad-Bissessar went overseas last week and returned home on Saturday.
