AN Indian Walk woman was hospitalised in critical condition after her husband chased her, chopped her and tried to take his own life in the morning on June 24.
Initial reports said the 30-year-old CEPEP worker was working along Contention Road, Indian Walk, when her husband pulled up in his silver Mitsubishi Lancer and chased after her with a cutlass.
Although she tried to run away, her husband managed to push her into some bushes and chopped her several times on her head and arms before trying to slit his own throat.
The couple were taken to the Princes Town Health Facility by a private citizen and were later transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital.
The woman was warded in critical but stable condition, while her husband was conscious and stable. He remains under police guard. PCs Buchoon and Sirjusingh visited the scene, did interviews and seized the cutlass. Enquiries are continuing.
