Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a law Friday prohibiting schools from introducing rules regulating hairstyles related to race and ethnicity such as braids and twisted, according to the Associated Press. The state’s legislature approved the measure this past spring with the goal to end hair-based discrimination. The law becomes official on Jan. 1.
