Michigan became the latest in a long line of states to declare racism a public health crisis on Wednesday. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer made the declaration and announced the creation of a state advisory council to address issues affecting Black Michigan residents and implicit bias training for every state employee, reports the Detroit Free Press. The Black Leadership Advisory Council will look through the state's laws and identify statutes that need to be changed to make things fairer for Black Michigan residents. "We have a lot of work to do to eliminate the systemic racism that Black Americans have experienced for generations," Whitmer said according to the Detroit Free Press. Whitmer and Lt. Gov.
