THOUSANDS of anxious students across the Caribbean were told to wait an extra six hours for their CSEC results on Thursday.
While CSEC results were supposed to be released on the online student portal of the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) at 6 pm, students trying to log in found that the portal did not offer CSEC as an option, but only results for the CAPE and CCSLC exams.
At 6.02 pm the CXC on its Facebook page announced a delay in the CSEC results, which would not be available until later at 12 pm.
"Please be advised that there will be a staggered release of the 2023 May/June examination results, which will be done in the following sequence: CAPE & CCSLC at 6 pm (AST). CSEC will be delayed until midnight (AST) ..."

Early, a ceremony held by CXC in St Kitts announced that only 43 per cent of students in the region had passed CSEC mathematics. This follows the scrapping of the mathematics paper two (long answer) exam following a leak of the exam paper, with CXC subsequently telling pupils their final grade would now be calculated by a combination of their school-based assessment (SBA) grade plus their paper one (multiple choice) exam paper grade. The SBA is graded on a scale of up to 20 marks and would provide 40 per cent of the final mark, while paper one consisted of 60 questions and would contribute to 60 per cent of the final mark.
