THE funeral of author/historian the late Michael Anthony, 91, will be held on Saturday, according to details on the website of Belgroves Funeral Home.
Anthony, of Long Circular Road, St James, died last Thursday.
Anthony was author of works such as The Games were Coming, The Year in San Fernando, and Green Days by the River, the latter which was made into a film. Former president Anthony Carmona, in a tribute, said Anthony's work displayed "exceptional social outreach, incisive vision, compassion and humility."
Anthony was the husband of the late Yvette Francesca Anthony; father of Jennifer, Keith, Carlos, and Sandra; son of the late Evelina Alexis and Nathaniel Anthony; and brother of the late Rupert “Sonny,” Annie, Millie, and Sylvester, aka calypsonian Zandolie, among other family relationships.
A public viewing of his body takes place on Friday from 2-5 pm at Belgroves at 2-6 Belgrove Lane, Coffee Street, San Fernando.
The service for Anthony takes place on Saturday at 11 am at St Peter and Paul RC Church, Church Road, Radix Village, Mayaro, followed by a burial at Radix Public Cemetery. Enquiries can be made at Belgroves at 235-2178.
