DAY eight of the 2024 racing season will be contested at Santa Rosa Park, Arima on August 1 with the staging of a seven-race card.
The holiday card has attracted a total of 41 horses. The feature attraction on the day’s programme will be the Midsummer Classic, a grade one contest that has attracted a quality field of nine runners.
It is expected that Uncle Rog, winner of the first leg which was The Guineas, will be sent off as pre-race favourite. This time the colt will have a tougher assignment that would see his stablemate Headlines Again making a return to racing action after an injury .
Another entrant that would be returning to the track will be Bold And Brave which was previously trained by Shaffique Khan and is now being conditioned by Michael Lutchman.
Punters who journey to the track for the holiday card will have the pleasure in seeing two of the American Bred runners that graced our shores at the end of May being sent out in the fifth race. The horses are Sneaky Cheeky and Striking Chrome that will come from the stables of trainer Ramesh Ramroop and Clyde Rambaran.
Post time for the seven-race holiday card is slated at 1 pm.
