The Burundi Constitutional Court ruled late Friday that the country does not need an interim president as stipulated by Article 121, saying the country already has a president-elect.
The Court president Charles Ndagijimana said that since the president-elect is competent and the position of president is vacant, Evariste Ndayishimiye should be sworn in as soon as possible so that he can assume office in line with the country's constitution.
Burundi's 2018 Constitution, Article 121, states that; \"In case of vacancy caused by resigning, death or any other cause by the president then the Speaker of the National Assembly takes over in the interim until a new president is elected.\"
Burundi government announced a one week mourning of the death of the country's outgoing President Nkurunziza, all sorts of karaoke and music other than religious ones were banned country wide in bars and restaurants and other public places.

Luanda — The Ministry of Health (MINSA) reinforced, last Sunday, the call for awareness about the importance of regular blood donations, as a way to guarantee safety in blood transfusion procedures and encourage the first donation.
In a message to which ANGOP has had access, in the ambit of the World Blood Donor Day, the ministerial department said that the basis of an efficient blood service is the faithfulness of donations made by voluntary and regular donors.
MINSA highlights the need for advocacy in promoting the global blood donation incentive campaign, thus highlighting the donor's efforts and the impact of improving the health of the entire community.
Of that number, 90 percent are family members of patients in need of blood transfusion, according to official government data.
The national blood bank needs 300,000 voluntary donors to close the deficit in this area and improve assistance to health facilities.

Police in the City of Kigali have arrested 17 people for allegedly violating government directives meant to prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).
Those arrested include three who entered into the country from Uganda through an illegal border entry and two others, who had travelled to Kigali from Rusizi.
Borders are closed and no one is allowed to go or leave Rusizi and Rubavu districts, as per the government directives, following the spike of cases from the western border districts.
Vedaste Uwabarengeye, who had travelled to Kigali from Rusizi, said that in the wee hours of June 13, he sneaked into Nyamasheke District from Rusizi, where he boarded a vehicle to Kigali.
Ezra Niyonkuru, who had also travelled from Rusizi, was a taxi-moto operator in Kigali, who was in Rusizi when the country was put under lockdown in March.

“In light of President Trump’s disturbing actions and words, we have deep, ongoing concerns over Mr. Ross’s failure to renounce his support for the President,” the letter read.
Letter from World Resources Institute employees
Each year, WRI grants a Ross Prize for Cities to a business, nonprofit or local government that has brought “transformative change” to a “city’s economic vitality, resilience, environmental sustainability or quality of life.”
“While we understand the importance of funding to WRI’s fiscal health, we believe that key steps still need to be taken given Mr. Ross’s sizable contribution to WRI’s budget and his ongoing prominent association with the organization, which exposes WRI to significant and potentially lasting reputational harm,” staff wrote in the letter.
The nonprofit, whose most recent tax filings show revenue topping $140 million in 2018, recently accepted “a substantial contribution from Mr. Ross without adequately addressing the concerns that a significant number of staff expressed last year and without consulting staff in any meaningful way about the implications of this decision for our collective work,” the letter read.
“We are extremely disappointed that Mr. Ross has failed to meet with a representative group of staff from across the organization, despite explicit indications from senior management that such a meeting would take place,” the letter said.
