DANIEL Dumas, Christiana Hills, Novak Malcolm won their matches on day three of the Sagicor Junior Tennis Tournament at the National Racquet Centre, Tacarigua on July 8.
Trinidad and Tobago`s Daniel Dumas defeated Guyanese Denzel Luther 6-0, 7-5 in their second-round match in group two of the Boy’s 18 and under category.
The Guyanese contingent pulled a match back against their TT opponents when Gerald Scotland defeated Deron Dumas 6-2, 7-6. In the girl’s equivalent, Christiana Hills got past Naomi Mohammed 6-2, 6-4 while Venezuelan Ana Sanchez won against Laura-Li Maillard 6-4,6-4.
In the Boy`s 16 and under Connor Carrington brushed aside Jonathan De Gannes 6-1,6- 1 in the opening round match of group two. However, Guyanese Nathan De Nobrega crushed TT’s Favian Dates 6-0,6-0 in group three of the opening round of the Boy`s 14 and under. In that same group, Novak Malcolm won easily against Sanjay Ramcharitar 6-0,6-3. In group two Oliver Harragin defeated Lukas Seedansingh 6-0,6-1 whilst Gabriel Mansoor beat Ridello Boodhai 6-4,6-4 in group one.
St Lucian Riley Smith survived a challenging first set to beat local player Malik Bain 5- 4,4-0 in the Boy’s ten and under. Aryan Garg couldn’t mimic his St Lucian counterpart as he lost 4-0, 5-3 to Christian Duncan.
In the Girl’s 12 and under, Anaya Roberts swept Johara Dowlat 6-0,6-0 in Group One. American Kaheņya Mukorą won against TT’s Isabella Rambhajan in group two. In the Girl’s ten and Under, Guyanese Israbella Grannum won a thriller against Suriya Ramdath 5-3,4-2.
