TOMAS Ayala has been named as the new general manager of Philip Morris TT, affiliate of L&M and Malboro manufacturer, Philip Morris International.
The company made the announcement in a statement on July 3.
It said, “The appointment is part of a series of new leadership roles for the company in the Caribbean and Central America, which aim to drive an evolution in the smoke-free category through portfolios with a greater diversity of science-based alternatives for the different needs of adult smokers and nicotine users.”
Ayala, Philip Morris said, joined in 2019 after working at L’Oreal in areas such as scientific engagement, brand building and commercial deployment across Latin America.
He served in Philip Morris as general manager for North Central America which includes Guatemala Honduras and El Salvador.
“Ayala will be developing the corporate leadership of Philip Morris TT, a market that is positioned within Philip Morris’s cluster and the entire Central America and Caribbean region as an innovation hub and a fertile land for greater investments in smoke-free and other aspects of the business,” the company said.
“One big goal for Ayala will be accelerating the growth of Philip Morris TT’s projects in Trinidad and Tobago as one important hub in the region.”
Ayala will take over from Sheldon Wood, who was Philip Morris TT’s general manager since 2022.
