A 47-year-old soldier has been granted $200,000 bail for trafficking marijuana and contraband in prison.
Police said on June 1, two warrant officers visited the Golden Grove Maximum Security Prison, Arouca, to deliver "food items" to incarcerated soldiers.
But during their search, prisons officers found marijuana among "other prohibited items" and alerted Arouca police.
The men were arrested and interviewed by officers of the CID.
One man was released and Ronald Steede was charged for possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of prohibited articles by PC Lambkin.
Steede, a class two warrant officer attached to Tetron Barracks, was granted bail by an Arima magistrate on Saturday.
The matter has been adjourned to November 24.
