President Joe Biden has announced a student loan forgiveness plan that will cancel up to $20,000 in student loan debt per borrower for those with Pell Grants and up to $10,000 per borrower for non-Pell Grant loan holders, who earn less than $125,000 annually, as Blavity previously reported . While several people celebrated Biden’s plan, including politicians who lauded him for honoring one of his campaign promises, the minimal information provided at the time of the announcement has left student loan borrowers with questions about how the forgiveness plan will impact them. Keisha Lance Bottoms , senior advisor to the president for public engagement, joined Blavity to answer these questions.
Detectives at the Homicide Bureau Region III are expected to submit a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for instructions regarding the murder of a seven-year-old girl over the weekend at home in Palo Seco.
Up to Thursday, detectives were still preparing the file. The 25-year-old female suspect was still in custody.
On Wednesday, an autopsy at the Forensic Sciences Centre in St James found Mckenzie Hope Rechier had been manually strangled.
On Saturday, around 12.05 am, Cpl Aguillera and WPC Monsegue of the Santa Flora station found the girl’s body in an incomplete wooden shack at 7 Road Extension in Palo Seco. She was lying in a foetal position on a mattress.
The police went to the house, which does not have electricity, after receiving a report from an imam who lives in Claxton Bay.
A police report said the woman, a close relative of Mckenzie, said she left the girl alone at about 4 pm on Friday.
She left with a friend who took her to a supermarket to buy a few items.
She then asked the friend to take her to the Pranz Gardens Masjid, where she spoke with imam Yasin.
The imam accompanied the woman and her friend to the house and then called the police.
Relatives told Newsday that apart from going to a supermarket with the friend before meeting the imam, the suspect had a KFC meal as well as soup.
Relatives said funeral plans are being made.
PC Bhola of the Homicide Bureau Region III is leading investigations.

Managing director Vandana Mangroo said with that noticeable gap, it was only natural for her to be drawn to solving the problem. The Woodbrook-based company distributes its products to several Caribbean countries – among them Dominica, Barbados and Grenada – and Mangroo plans to go beyond these soon.

Aside from expansion, Mangroo has been using opportunities at various expos the company has been invited to, educating the public on the products and its benefits.
Hello Green was invited to take part in an expo to be held in the Dominican Republic hosted by Caribbean Export in a few weeks. This comes as the company successfully completed its participation at the Agri-Investment Forum and Expo held last weekend at Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain. She said on educating visitors to her booth, all the responses received were mixed.

Hello Green also made waves in the food and beverage industry during the covid19 lockdown because despite commercial food establishments being closed, hospitals and quarantine facilities were up and running.

Mangroo said the company also worked alongside the Supermarket Association of TT and provided the packaging for the food drives held during the lockdown.
