A robbery suspect was killed in a police-involved shooting in Port of Spain on Thursday night.
The dead man has been identified as Nayshawn “Boy Boy” Logan.
A police report said at around 11 pm, members of the PoS Task Force, including Sgt Alexander, WPC Rose, and PCs Murray and Perez, were driving south down Charlotte Street near Duke Street.
There, they saw a robbery in progress by three male suspects, all of African descent. One was brandishing a gun.
The officers stopped the vehicle, got out, and approached the men.
On seeing the police, three bandits began running east along Duke Street.
The report said on reaching George Street, one of the men turned and pointed a gun toward the police, and in response, one of the police fired one shot at the man.
The police then saw a silver Nissan Tiida heading west along Duke Street.
They chased and intercepted the car. The occupant, one of the suspects, had a gunshot wound. The police also seized a gun.
The injured man, later identified as Logan, was taken to the PoS General Hospital, where he died.
Police sources linked Logan to an armed robbery and the shooting death of a man at Prince Street some months ago.
Investigations are ongoing.
