Port of Spain Fashion Week (POSFW) has partnered with the Caribbean Export Development Agency to create Quick Reference Guides for Caribbean micro small medium enterprises (MSMEs) operating within the creative sector.

A media release said the purpose of the guides is to serve as capacity building resources and how-to-guides to provide easy solutions in a snapshot to frequent business challenges faced by MSMEs such as writing a business plan, re-imagining the business model or even developing a marketing plan.

'These guides are the first of several capacity-building tools to be developed under the POSFW Online Learning Resource Centre,' said Crystal Cunningham, managing director of POSFW.

'Oftentimes, many small businesses are resource constrained and as a result, small business operators have to wear many hats - accounting, business development, public relations, branding, sales, social media and marketing. And while some may possess the know-how, others are self-taught. However, it can become pretty daunting and not to mention very time consuming having to wade through a ton of content to teach oneself all the necessary skills to effectively manage a small business,' Cunningham said in the release. 'And that's where the POSFW Learning Resource Centre and MSME Quick Guides come in - it is the perfect way to provide creative MSMEs with a wealth of quickly accessible information in an easy-to-digest, engaging manner,' Cunningham said.

Three Quick Reference Guides - How to Write a Quick and Easy Business Plan, Marketing Tips and Tricks, and Pivoting and Thrive were developed and released in phase one of the POSFW Fashion Learning Resource Centre, the release said.

'The great thing about these Quick Reference Guides is that they can be used by any small business and not just fashion MSMEs. We also created video tutorials for those who prefer a more interactive approach to learning,' Cunningham said.

The POSFW MSME Quick Guides are available to everyone and can be viewed online at posfashionweek.com under the 'Resources' tab.
