THE Prime Minister and his Caricom counterparts met with a bipartisan US Congressional delegation in Barbados on November 30 to discuss several issues of mutual interest.
A statement issued by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) on December 1, said Dr Rowley and other Caricom leaders discussed issues of security, economic and climate goals with members of the delegation which was led by US Democratic Leader in the House of Representatives Congressman Hakeem Jeffries.
Other members of the delegation included Representative Maxine Waters, ranking member, Committee on Financial Services; Representative Gregory W Meeks, ranking member, Foreign Affairs Committee, member, Committee on Financial Services and Republican Amata Coleman Radewagen, vice-chairman, Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, member, Natural Resources Committee, member, Foreign Affairs Committee.
Last year, Jeffries led a congressional delegation visit to TT, where he joined US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the 45th Regular Meeting of the Caricom Heads of Government Conference.
Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne accompanied Rowley to this meeting.
Rowley left for Barbados on November 29.
Energy Minister Stuart Young was appointed to act as prime minister until Rowley returns.
This has been Young's fifth stint as acting prime minister.
