Renowned music industry executive Andre Harrell, who launched Uptown Records and helped usher in a new era of hip-hop-flavored soul and R, was laid to rest May 23 at George Washington Cemetery in Paramus, N.J.
A funeral followed a celebration of his life at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home in Fair Lawn, N.J.
Among the attendees were singers Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige, comedian Chris Rock and executives L.A. Reid and Lyor Cohen, according to reports.
Harrell, 59, died May 7 from heart disease-related issues.
