TWO days after a 62-year-old man from Barrackpore was last seen alive, his body was found in a bushy area off a track near his home before dawn on July 29.
The police identified him as construction worker Karran Paul Ragbir of South Oropouche Trace.
Ragbir was last seen around 10.30 am on July 27 by a female relative getting out of a white Kia van in front of the family’s home.
She asked if he wanted help opening the gate, and Ragbir responded that he would pass along the nearby track to get to his room.
A close male relative, 34, reported that shortly after 1 am on July 29, he spoke to another female relative who lives elsewhere in Barrackpore. She was worried, as she had not seen Ragbir for the entire day on July 28.
Barrackpore police were called, and found Ragbir’s body lying on the ground. He was wearing the clothes he was seen in on July 27 — a multi-coloured stripe jersey with jeans and black-and-red shoes.
The relative told the police Ragbir was an alcoholic.
The DMO, Dr Rajnarinesingh, viewed the body and ordered that it removed for an autopsy at the Forensic Science Centre in St James.
The police were unable to ascertain if there were any signs of violence owing to the state of decomposition.
Crime scene investigators WPCs Samaroo and Gilkes gathered evidence.
The police also found $241.
Investigations are ongoing.
