A man wearing a short dress with a matching headband and a wig was among three bandits who robbed a jewellery store in Penal on Saturday.
The man and two other male accomplices remained at large up to Sunday afternoon.
Reports are three men entered Sonah’s Jewellery at Penal Rock Road near Penal Junction at around 2 pm and pretended to be customers.
Two were wearing long pants and long-sleeved shirts, and the other a tight multicoloured dress and pink handbag.
They stood next to a glass showcase as a worker showed them several pieces of jewellery worth thousands of dollars.
The men snatched the gold jewels as the cross-dresser tried to smash the case, before running out of the store.
They ran across the road into Beckles Avenue.
Penal police are investigating.
