Castries, September 10, 2021 – Saint Lucia experienced a second island wide power outage in the space of a few hours. The second outage occurred at 9:06 p.m. shortly after power had been restored across the island at 8:02 p.m. The second outage was caused by a recurrence of an earlier protection system fault at St. Lucia Electricity Services Limited’s (LUCELEC’s) generating plant at Cul De Sac that tripped all the generators, resulting in a total shutdown of the electricity system. Power restoration following the second outage began at 9:30 p.m. and was completed at 10:45 p.m. Chief Engineer Gilroy Pultie says,
