President David Granger says his government will accept the declaration of the current recount of the March 2 General and Regional Elections.
“Whatever declaration that GECOM or the Chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission gives will be regarded as legitimate.
As President of Guyana and leader of government it is my policy that any declaration coming from the chairman of GECOM will be accepted by the government of Guyana.
I speak for the Government of Guyana,” Granger declared this morning while speaking with reporters following the visit to the site of the recount at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
Asked about the controversial decision of his COVID task force to disallow Carter Center observers entry into Guyana for the recount, Granger said it was solely made from a health perspective as “COVID is real.”
