Kamala Harris has already made history as America’s first woman of color on a major party presidential ticket. As Democrats meet this week around smartphones in a virtual convention, the party aims to turn the daughter of a Jamaican father and South Asian mother into the nation’s first female vice president as well. Not to mention the first graduate of a historically Black college — Howard University — to be one heartbeat away from serving as commander in chief.
