Magazine Dreams was once the hottest ticket at Sundance , with studios fighting each other for the rights to distribute. Just a year later, after weathering the harassment and assault allegations and eventual conviction of its star, Jonathan Majors, Magazine Dreams is a film without a distributor. Variety reports that Magazine Dreams is on the hunt for a new studio to distribute after Searchlight released the rights back to the filmmakers. The outlet reports that the Elijah Bynum-directed film was sold for “a reported mid-seven figures” last year after its buzzy Sundance debut. After Searchlight bought the rights, it was slated for a Q4 2023 release, right in time for awards season.
