THE EDITOR: At a time when the Ministry of Health is facing intense public scrutiny and outrage arising from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) fiasco at the Port of Spain General Hospital, I write to 'expose' to the national community the ministry's best-kept secret, the new Arima General Hospital.
Recently, I required medical attention at that hospital and 'world class' is the only way I can describe the care and medical attention I received.
From the moment I arrived, the level of professionalism was remarkable. The security staff assisted me in obtaining parking and the reception staff greeted me with empathy and efficiency, ensuring that all necessary paperwork was handled swiftly. This initial interaction set a positive tone for my entire experience.
In an era where our national healthcare systems face immense challenges and criticisms, the exceptional dedication and professionalism exhibited by the staff at the Arima General Hospital are truly commendable.
I do not normally believe in specification but I make an exception on this occasion to thank Drs Rodney Ramroop and Timmy Hosein, as well as the staff at the CT Scan, MRI and Radiology Departments. The staff at the Phlebotomy Department are also to be commended.
It is also important to highlight the advanced facilities and technology available at the Arima General Hospital; the state-of-the-art equipment played a crucial role in delivering high-quality medical care.
The combination of professional expertise, compassionate care and advanced facilities at that hospital should be the benchmark for healthcare excellence in our country.
I extend my deepest gratitude to all the staff members who attended to me and contributed to this exceptional experience.
