Fire destroys Tobago hardware store - Trinidad and Tobago Newsday

FIRE and police officials are investigating a fire which destroyed a hardware store in Tobago on August 2.

Police said around 2.45 am, an occupant of Dave’s Discount Hardware, Milford Road, Canaan, woke up to the smell of gasoline and saw a vehicle on the compound was on fire.

She raised an alarm and the other people on the compound ran out of the store.

The building was later engulfed in flames.

The fire service and police were contacted and the blaze was extinguished, but the building was destroyed. It contained hardware items, paint and other flammable substances.

The cost of the damage has not yet been estimated.

Crown Point police are investigating.
