THE suspect held in connection with the shooting death in March of a market vendor from Chaguanas has been charged.
Junior “Aki” Barrack, 32, of Diamond Boulevard in Enterprise, was charged over the weekend with murder after police received instructions from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Barrack is expected to appear in the North Criminal High Court on August 5.
PC Lall of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, laid the charge.
On March 16, around 3.15 pm, the victim, Mark Quashie, 32, was selling at his fruit and vegetable stall in the Chaguanas market when a masked man shot him in the presence of customers and other vendors. Quashie and the gunman then scuffled.
Quashie, who was also a stick fighter, managed to run to the back of the market along Eleanor Street and into a nearby casino, where he collapsed.
The gunman ran off.
Quashie was taken to the Chaguanas Health Centre, where he died shortly after arrival.
