Brendan Boodoo hit a half century (52) for Trinidad and Tobago on day one of the West Indies Rising Stars Under-17 two-day Championship which bowled off at Inshan Ali Park in Preysal on August 14.

Boodoo, TT U17 skipper, led all scorers as he guided the hosts to 202 all out from 65.4 overs. In reply, Guyana closed off the first day’s play on 94/4 after 26 overs, trailing by 108 runs with six wickets in hand.

Sent in to bat, TT’s first three batsmen combined for just 24 runs, before Boodoo and number-five batsman Jayden Kent (38) stabilised the innings. Boodoo’s knock came from 81 balls and entailed two sixes and one four.

Wicketkeeper Christian Lall (11), Fareez Ali (one) and Aaron Basant (one) lost their wickets cheaply. A cameo of 31 from Aadian Racha breathed temporary life into their innings as Qadeer Juman chipped in with ten. Guyanese bowler Romario Ramdeholl (6/38) ran amok with his impressive six-wicket haul while Darwin Joseph (1/5), Emmanuel Joseph (1/5) and Jonathan van Kange (1/17) snagged one each.

In their turn at the crease, Guyana also had a shaky start as they were 2/23 inside six overs and then 4/59 at the end of the 13th over.

Afraz Ali Budho remains unbeaten on 36 with Ramdeholl (15 not out) with him in the middle. Rampersaud Ramnauth also scored 18.

The four Guyanese wickets went to four different TT bowlers as Johanson Gajadhar (1/9), Racha (1/14), Ali (1/19) and Basant (1/29) were among the wickets.

At the National Cricket Centre in Couva, Barbados lead Jamaica by 86 runs with six wickets in hand.

Jamaica batted first and were quickly dismissed for 103 inside 35 overs with Pajay Nelson (21) their highest contributor.

Bajan Shaquan Belle (4/12) had impressive figures with the ball while Damani Roach (2/11) and Zachary Carter (2/14) also chipped in.
