By: Tadi Abedje The police officer shot Ma’Khia Bryant on April 20, 2021, on the same day that Derek Chauvin was found guilty of the murder of George Floyd. 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant was in an intense argument with two other foster women about cleaning up their foster house in Columbus, Ohio, according to her foster mother Angela Moore. As a result, Columbus police were called to the scene because of a report of a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, Bryant was going after one of the women with a knife. Then, things turned for the worse, as the young teenager was shot four times by a Columbus police officer and died.
