Ondjiva — Two children aged 14 and 8 lost their legs after triggering an explosive device with which they were playing in Ondjiva locality, southern Cunene province.
The children were playing with the device, when it exploded causing serious injuries to their legs, which led to the amputation, the orthopedist of Ondjiva General Hospital, Desiderio Ndaondjapo, said.
Speaking to Angop, the doctor explained that the explosion caused the taking into account the children's clinical condition, as they were promptly taken to the operating room, where one was amputated both legs and the other only one leg, as well as the repair of all the tissues that were destroyed as a result of the explosion.
The doctor said that the patients showed a positive evolution, compared to the first 48 hours when they entered the health unit.
