Business Reporter The resort’s shutdown was prompted as a result of the national lockdown prompted the COVID-19 pandemic. Troutbeck Resort was founded by Major Herbert Macllwaine in 1947 and has undergone considerable changes over the years. The just completed refurbishment covered the reception area, restaurant, kitchen, sun lounge, main lounge, an additional coffee shop, a gazebo and an all new braai area across the river. AfSun said a new 16-seater solar paneled boat, mountain bikes as well as an outdoor fitness centre which includes eight obstacles for the fitness lovers have been added to the activities pool.
