This week, L.A. City Council president Nury Martinez introduced a motion to place $100 million from the federal CARES Act into the LA City Emergency Renters Relief Fund for renters and landlords.
“From the very start of this pandemic, the Los Angeles City Council and Mayor Garcetti have had one job, and that is to keep Angelenos safe,” Martinez said.
In making the announcement Martinez was joined by Mayor Eric Garcetti and fellow L.A. City Councilmembers Herb Wesson, Mitch O’Farrell, and John Lee.
“This $100 million will be a tremendous help to many, but we need significantly more housing assistance from the federal government if we’re going to keep all Angelenos in their homes after this pandemic ends.
This City Council will continue to call for more assistance on the federal and state level, but these funds represent a hopeful starting point.”
