WG Team awarded $499,488 for historic Girard building - The True Citizen

An African American Civil Rights grant of $499,488 will allow a group of citizens to begin rehabilitating the historic Girard Elementary School. Built in 1955, the school was one of the first of seven schools designed for “separate but equal” education for black students. The school was closed in 1987.
