They discovered at least 13 cannabis plants with high CBD that appeared to affect the ACE2 pathways that the coronavirus uses to access the body.

According to CTV News, the scientists have been working with cannabis since 2015 towards finding hybrids that have therapeutic properties.

The media outlet also wrote, “She says they started to examine the special proteins, or receptors, that the virus hijacks to enter the body, and they’ve now submitted a research paper studying the effect of medical cannabis on COVID-19.

Kovalchuks husband Igor Kovalchuk, who works with Olga on the research, said they had a lot of documented data about the effect of cannabis in Cancer treatment, cannabis in inflammation, obesity, anxiety and many more.

Speaking to CTV Olga said, “The key thing is not that any cannabis you would pick up at the store will do the trick.”
