More than half of the 21 people who have been killed by firearms for the year were on bail for serious offences, including murder. This was revealed by Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, David Griffith, who also pointed out that all of the deceased men were “affiliated with certain groups”. In spite of this, the senior officer has assured Barbadians that the gun activity is confined to those known “groups” and that they should continue to go about their business.Attorney General Dale Marshall also gave the public the assurance the country had not “descended into any state of anarchy,” and was still a safe place to live in spite of the “spike” in these gun-related deaths which he said were targeted and contained among rival groups.“...Barbadians remain safe in their homes and in their communities,” the AG told a press conference this afternoon at Police Headquarters on Roebuck Street in The City.
