In June 2022, Martin Lawrence joked during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he would try to get Eddie Murphy to pay if their children, Jasmin Lawrence and Eric Murphy, marry. Murphy has now responded to the comment, and Lawerence must pay instead.
