Black women are seeking alternatives to hospital births due to the growing evidence of disparities in medical treatment, which have adversely affected their health in numerous ways, including the birthing process, with Black women dying at nearly twice the rate of White Women during labor and research indicating that maternal mental health conditions are the most common complications of pregnancy and childbirth.
