Les élections générales pakistanaises du 8 février ont été considérées comme les plus "truquées" de l'histoire du pays. Si le très populaire ex-Premier ministre Imran Khan n'a pas pu se présenter et l'armée semblait assurée de la victoire de son candidat Nawaz Sharif, les résultats donnent cependant en tête les candidats indépendants pro-Imran Khan. Une fois de plus, les électeurs se sont mobilisés contre l'interférence politique des militaires, mais l'armée ne semble pas vouloir céder sa place centrale.
