Early voting is on in the US ahead of the country's Nov. 3, presidential but campaigns are still ongoing.

US Vice President Mike Pence held one rally in Kinston, North Carolina, on Sunday night. The rally  comes despite his chief of staff Marc Short, and reportedly several aides, testing positive for

\" The president just cast his vote yesterday. Karen and I just voted back in the Hoosier state, so men and women of North Carolina, you gotta get it done. If you need a little bit of help, I can tell you just go 10 minutes down the road tomorrow\" the vice president said.

\"Friends don't let friends vote alone. Bring a family member. Bring a neighbor. Bring a friend and vote for four more years of President Donald Trump in the White House. Get it done.\" he told the cheering crowds.

The decision by Pence, who heads the White House coronavirus task force, to ignore standing advice from health experts to quarantine himself has drawn fire from Democrats.

Earlier this month, Pence campaigned for Donald Trump whilst the US President was recovering from his own coronavirus infection.

Tens of millions of ballots have already been cast strongly suggesting highly enthusiastic voting amid a pandemic.

The backlash against President Emmanuel Macron's comments on Islam intensified Sunday, with some Libyans burning the French flag and portraits of Macron during a protest in the capital Tripoli.

The latest backlash from the muslim world against Macron comes after he vowed his country would not \"give up cartoons\" depicting the Prophet Mohammed.

Macron had been speaking in the wake of the beheading of a french teacher Samuel Paty for showing caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed to pupils in a lesson on free speech earlier this month.

The backlash against President Macron's comments also intensified with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a reaction urging Macron to have \"mental checks\".

Erdogan alleged Macron was treating \"millions of members from different faith groups\" a certain way.

Paris has recalled its envoy to Ankara in  disapproval of Erdogan's comments.

The Turkish government has however doubled down on those comments, accusing Macron on on Sunday of being \"obsessed with Erdogan day and night\".

\"(Macron) is a case and therefore he really needs to have checks,\" he said in a televised speech in the eastern Anatolian city of Malatya.

Relations between Macron and Erdogan have become increasingly strained over geopolitical issues ranging from a Greek-Turkish maritime dispute to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The European Union's top diplomat, Josep Borrell, called the comments Erdogan made on Saturday \"unacceptable\" and urged Turkey \"to cease this dangerous spiral of confrontation.\"

French authorities announced on Thursday that seven people will be prosecuted for 'conspiracy to commit a terrorist murder' over the beheading of Mr Paty.

Mr Paty became the subject of an online hate campaign over his choice of lesson material - the same images which unleashed a bloody assault by Islamist gunmen on the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo five years ago.

HIGH Court judge Justice Erica Ndewere has filed an interdict against President Emmerson Mnangagwa to stop him from suspending her until Chief Justice Luke Malaba has followed correct disciplinary procedures. By DESMOND CHINGARANDE Justice Ndewere has been accusing Justice Malaba of discrimination, saying former judge Justice Francis Bere’s disciplinary hearing was done according to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) guidelines, but her case had been sent directly to Mnangagwa without giving her an opportunity to be heard. In her application for interdict, Justice Ndewere cited Mnangagwa, Justice Malaba, Judge President George Chiweshe, the JSC and Justice minister Ziyambi Ziyambi. “On September 15, 2020, I received documents containing complaints against myself from JSC,” Justice Ndewere said. “It was noted that the complaints had been placed before JSC in terms of the Constitution of Zimbabwe. “I was asked to respond to the complaints on or before September 22. My lawyers of record then wrote a letter to JSC highlighting critical issues on how complaints against a sitting judge ought to be dealt with.” She added: “It was clear from the document I received from JSC was acting on the basis that it is Malaba who is complaining about my conduct. If, indeed, it is Malaba who is of the opinion that I have conducted myself contrary in any shape or form, then the JSC code of ethics should apply.” Justice Ndewere said the JSC did not respond to her letter and on October 13, she was shocked to receive news that she was to appear before a tribunal and received a letter stating that the complaints commission had referred the matter to the President. She said she, therefore, concluded that the complaints considered by the JSC at the extraordinary meeting chaired by Justice Malaba were the same as the complaints delivered to her, which confirms that Justice Malaba was the one complaining about her conduct. “By operation of law, the setting up of a tribunal by the first respondent (Mnangagwa) will result in my automatic suspension which will prejudice my work and my reputation,” she said. “My reputation is in jeopardy because Malaba has complained about my conduct. I run the risk of losing my job based on complaints raised against me by Malaba alone. To allow this would be a violation of my right and to the administration of justice.” Justice Ndewere said section 163(2) and (3) of the Constitution clearly stated that the Chief Justice was the head of Judiciary and was in charge of the Constitutional Court and Supreme Court and Judge President Chiweshe was in charge of the High Court. She said Justice Chiweshe was supposed to be the complainant in her case. Justice Ndewere is reportedly being victimised after allegedly refusing bail instruction in cases involving former Cabinet minister Priscah Mupfumira, who is accused of corruption and fraud, and MDC Alliance legislator Job Sikhala, accused of plotting Mnangagwa’s ouster.

Justice Ndewere is reportedly being victimised after allegedly refusing bail instruction in cases involving former Cabinet minister Priscah Mupfumira, who is accused of corruption and fraud, and MDC Alliance legislator Job Sikhala, accused of plotting Mnangagwa’s ouster.","MaxDetailCharacters":300,"ImageUrl":"https://cdn.blackfacts.net/uploads/blackfacts/facts/2020/10/65cd68f5-c955-44f6-b296-c819add4f4e4.jpg","ImageHeight":330,"ImageWidth":600,"ImageOrientation":"landscape","HasImage":true,"CssClass":"","Layout":"","Rowspan":1,"Colspan":1,"Likes":0,"Shares":0,"ContentSourceId":"7B933AE8-03CD-4CB2-9499-82145E19CFCF","SourceName":"NewsDay Zimbabwe - Everyday News for Everyday People","ContentSourceRootUrl":"https://www.newsday.co.zw","ContentSourceIcon":null,"SponsorId":null,"IsSponsored":false,"SponsorName":null,"SmallSponsorLogoUrl":null,"SponsorUrl":null,"HasSmallSponsorLogo":false,"EffectiveDate":null,"HasEffectiveDate":false,"MonthAbbrevName":null,"FormattedDate":null,"Year":null,"Month":null,"Day":null,"LastUpdatedDate":"2023-11-25T05:14:39.027","LastUpdatedBy":null,"IsEditable":false,"InsertAd":false,"JSONFactData":"{\"date\":\"2020-10-24T04:00:29Z\"}","JsonExtData":{"date":{"ValueKind":3}},"Html":null,"Css":null,"Script":null,"ScriptHash":null,"Id":175768,"FactUId":"18865CE0-6106-4D17-9D63-D621DC351808","Slug":"judge-seeks-to-bloc-ed-from-firing-her-0","FactType":"News","VirtualSiteSlug":"blackfacts","Title":"Judge seeks to bloc ED from firing her","LocalFactUrl":"/fact/judge-seeks-to-bloc-ed-from-firing-her-0","ResultCount":200,"SearchType":"OmniSearch.RelatedId"},{"FadeSummary":true,"SponsorRedirectUrl":null,"SourceRedirectUrl":"https://ai.blackfacts.com/redirect/ContentSource/39dd4e92-9e53-4d8b-b070-efe6ba9643e9/9cb4e926-2578-4413-b9d5-1239b3855a48/https%3A%2F%2Fafro.com","DisplayText":"

An edited version of the interview aired on CBS Sunday night. Trump released the full 38-minute interview on Facebook on Thursday, pre-empting the network because he said he was unhappy with Stahl's questioning.

Despite Stahl's persistent efforts to challenge him, Trump made false or misleading claims about several topics on which he has been frequently deceptive in recent months -- most notably the coronavirus pandemic.

We counted at least 16 false or misleading claims in the extended footage Trump posted, 10 of them pandemic-related. Below is the full list. We've noted the instances in which the Trump quote we are checking is from the extended footage the President posted rather than the footage televised by CBS.

Cases and testing

Trump claimed that coronavirus cases are rising simply \"because we're doing so much testing.\"

\"If we didn't do testing, cases would be way down,\" he added in the extended footage.

Facts First: It's not true that the US is only seeing an increase in cases because the number of tests has increased. Trump also used this refrain during previous spikes in the number of cases; it was also false then.

While the number of daily tests has indeed been rising, there is no doubt there has been an increase in the actual spread of the virus, not just that more cases are being captured. One telltale sign is that hospitalizations are also rising, setting records in some states. Also, the percentage of US tests coming back positive has also been rising since late September. And deaths have started to rise again, too, after the usual lag following the spike in cases.

\"The corner\"

Stahl pointed out that people can see for themselves that it's not true when he repeatedly claims we have \"turned the corner\" on the pandemic and that it is \"disappearing.\" Trump responded, \"That's right, we have turned the corner.\"

Facts First: Stahl was right, Trump was wrong. Again, US pandemic numbers -- newly confirmed cases, hospitalizations, the test positivity rate, deaths -- are all getting worse, not better. There is just no basis for his vague claim that we are rounding some sort of corner in a positive direction.

Trump's comments about Fauci

Stahl said, \"You called Dr. Fauci and other health officials idiots.\" Trump responded, \"Where did I call him an idiot?\"

Facts First: This was misleading at best. On a phone call with campaign staff on Monday, with reporters from CNN and other outlets listening in, Trump said, \"People are tired of hearing Fauci and these idiots, all these idiots who got it wrong.\"

Trump could perhaps make an argument that he was distinguishing Dr. Anthony Fauci from the unnamed \"these idiots\" he was referring to, but that's a stretch. (And Trump went on to tell Stahl that Fauci has \"been wrong a lot,\" which is how he was defining \"idiots\" in the phone call.)

Trump rallies and masks

Stahl told Trump that she couldn't believe that, after so many people who attended his White House event for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett in September got sick with the coronavirus, Trump still
