POLICE are investigating how a 17-year-old Venezuelan ended up dead in a New Grant drain on August 14.
Police said around 3.50 pm Princes Town police station CID officers responded to a report of a male body found at Grace Anglican Church, Hindustan Road, New Grant.
At the scene, the person who made the report told officers he was driving along the road when he saw a crowd gathered around the body.
Santiago Claviel's uncle identified the body.
District medical officer Dr Daniel viewed the body but did not see any obvious marks of violence. Daniel pronounced Claviel dead and ordered his body removed for an autopsy at the San Fernando General Hospital.
Crime scene investigators found a knife, a watch, a lighter and wrapping paper.
